Update: Last Day of School Set for Tuesday, June 30
Dear Taunton Public Schools Caregivers,
The last day of school for the 2025–2026 school year will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026. This will be an early release day for students in Grades 1–11. Schools will dismiss students two hours earlier than their regular schedule. The last day for Preschool and PreK students will be June 23, 2026. This will be a full day.
After seven snow days this winter, the School Committee met on March 18 to set the rest of the school calendar.
Decision on the 180-Day Requirement
The district reviewed several options to make up the missed days, including the option to request a waiver from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
After reviewing these options, the district decided not to request a waiver. This decision reflects a fiscally responsible approach that balances the district’s commitments to teachers and staff. It avoids additional unplanned costs and ensures that staff who are paid based on days worked will receive their full compensation.

Students are expected to attend school through the final day.
Individual schools will share more information with caregivers about end-of-year schedules, events, and activities in the coming weeks.
We understand that extending the school year to June 30 may affect caregiver schedules and summer plans. Thank you for your flexibility and continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Taunton Public Schools
